Never leaving the earth
But detached from it
Gone from ground
I reach
Beyond myself
Flutter in the wind
Adrift in the sky
Lost to god
Built for speed
Lived at a Main Street pace
The paradox
Of a mechanical world
As seen from this virtual realm
Because here am I
Everywhere at once
Yet nowhere at all
Upon the wall
Of ancient cave
A blogger posts
An early selfie
His awakening would be
Celebrated around the world
Though his eyes never opened again
Though here demurred
Occluding smoke
Smothers valley’s depth and scale
Still, upon a closer look
The trees, a ridge
A jagged line
And then another
Slight serrated edge
The third and fourth both smoother still
So scale restored
I can imagine depth, at least
As this choking smoke occludes my breath
But today
Though the wind be high
In the lee of the rocks
A delightful calm
I love them both
The battering grey
The aqua and azure
Though…
I wonder at the lives
Lived in the glow
Which to me
Seems just a dot
Reflected
Off a still sea
Each with their own tenor
Their own flavour
Their own meaning
There is the overall
The changing times
The recollected meaning
Of a moment
Made up of moments
All part of another
Moment
