Anywhere in the world

Anywhere in the world
Yes, I have said, many a time
How much I love the desert
And the mountains
On which I bike and ski

But… Oh! If I could choose
Choose anywhere in the world
It would be here, I’d live
In that dark house by the sea

With the wild ocean all around
The surf foaming on my front step
And the wind singing
A fevered song of frenzy

Then, on a clear day
A blue-on-blue view
From my front yard
Into infinity

I would feel so very alive
And awaken every day
To the pounding surf saying
“You are free, just like me.”
