Lingering
Above the peaks
One little cloud
Gone rogue amid
The overcast
She calls upon
The fading sun
Which does oblige
With warming light
Just before
Advancing night
Lingering
Above the peaks
One little cloud
Gone rogue amid
The overcast
She calls upon
The fading sun
Which does oblige
With warming light
Just before
Advancing night
Beyond the window
Only clouds
Though comes the wind
To move them on
While they clear
We could explore
The world we’re in
There’s so much more
Or linger here
We may enjoy
What is revealed
While clouds move on
We build
Ever higher
To breach the sky
This city in the clouds
City of privilege
Where feet rarely
Touch the ground
And hearts
Rarely
Touch each other
Majestic
Formidable
Hard
weak
soft
supple
tenacious
Power
Even on the gloomiest days
The world can seem
Simply epic
If I choose to look for it
And so can I
Hope
I understand
How the soft
Is stronger
Than the hard
Thunder rolls
Across the parchment plains
Rain is coming
Too late
And far too much
What little soil remains
After wind storms
And dust clouds
Carried the best of it
Off to the East
Will wash away
Rivulets cutting small canyons
Deep into the earth
The clouds
A battery of waves
Roll across the sky
I lose myself
In the rumbling hiss
Of wind and white water
Taste the salty air
On my lips
Breathing deeply
