Architecture, Fujifilm X-T2, Poetry

Star Chamber

Star Chamber, The Alhambra, Grenada, Spain
Within the chamber
Starry light
Small portals fill
The darkest night
With glow enough
To see my way
Then find again
The light of day

Star Chamber
The Alhambra
Granada, Spain

Taken during travels, 2019

What an interesting view! The lower part of the wall looks like the earth, the blue trim maybe the horizon- or water? And then your eye goes up and you see the stars.

I love learning how people interpret the work I post. Mostly for the things they find in them that I never saw. Like here, where I saw only the stars and imagined the darkness they illuminated. 🙂

It’s become obvious to me over the past 25 years of blogging that a work is never “complete” until viewed or read, and that each reader or viewer plays a role in the creation of the work. All interpretations are valid, regardless of my intentions in creating them, conscious or not. Honestly, I often discover that whatever I thought while writing a poem or story, multiple readings of my own work often reveal meanings for which I was obviously the intended audience but couldn’t consciously see at the time.

That’s the great thing about creating a work of art or a story. It’s knowing that it took root and grew.

Pictures such as these leave me to wonder who has passed through this place. It is an empty space so obviously full of ghosts.

Yeah. The Alhambra is one of those places with a long history with multiple transitions of culture and power. To be a fly on the wall of time and just watch the parade of ever-changing humanity would be fascinating. 🙂
