My mind a storm of thoughts
Breathe
Stillness
Empty myself
Of past, present and future
Of fear, desire, need
In the quiet
A softening
Becomes a glimmer
Becomes the light itself
Flooding the plain
Of my existence
Which at first
Seems wasteland
Breathe again
And the waste becomes barrenness
Breathe again
And the barrenness becomes emptiness
Detached
From time and material things
I learn the beauty of emptiness

Fire on the horizon
Engulfs my little craft
So I turn away
A beacon
Calls from the darkness
But the call comes from rocky shoals
Its light is false
I risked wrecking on the shores of distraction
So turn the boat again
Into the fire
And the true light beyond which set it
Shift Change
The change comes
From full light
To a beacon
In the coming darkness
Scant illumination
But enough to see me
Through night’s passage
With faith for
A new day coming
On calm seas
Sunset Peace
Sol heads off to bed
Flicks off the lights in the hall
Peace comes with darkness
Reach for the Sky
I reach for the sky
Its light
Its heat
Bathe in the glory
Of nature’s bounty
Alive to the moment
The Path Through Darkness
Stillness in dark, dense forest
Light trickles through the canopy
Enough to cast shadows of utter black
In near blackness
Trees and roots form vague outlines
A maze of a path
Upon a maze for footfalls
I stumble my way
In a direction which seems
Forward
Progress slow
Or futile
I do not know
No matter
If futile
Step back
Seek another path
In this sense
All paths lead to the light
Failure is to remain complacent
In the darkness
One Lane Bridge
Confined egress
Narrow field of view
Yield to oncoming traffic
Move ahead
Nonetheless
Patience and tenacity
Against the grain
Of resistance
Light beyond
Illumines new roads
Suggests possibilities
Darkness and Light
Every sunset
Leads to night
Every night
Leads to sunrise
Ever the flow
Of darkness and light

To offer light
