Mine is the hand with the eye

Mine is the hand
Mine is the hand which seeks you
Mine is the hand which finds you
Mine is the hand which takes you
Mine is the hand which makes you

Mine is the hand with the eye

The eye which sees all
The eye which captures
The eye which alters
The eye which creates

I have the power to see
I have the power to show
I have the power to shape
I have the power of truth

I have the power of the lie

Yet, there is truth
Even in lies
When they are told
With honesty

This began as a submission to the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge, Careful, on the basis that I had to very carefully place myself in the gallery window reflection, and I also had to wait for the right light, as only direct sun falling on my hand made it visible enough for the effect I was seeking.

But “careful” arose in another sense as the words of this poem took form. Both poem and image are about the care and responsibility we photographers take on every time we create an image.
