Heavy Air

Heavy Air

The air is heavy
Laden
Saturated

Clings to my flesh
Beads on my clothing
Thick with moisture

And heat
Lungs fill
But find little oxygen

An exquisite sensation
To visit
For a little while

😀 glad it’s your favorite challenge!! And your image is so so beautiful. My comments may get repetitive, but I mean it with all honesty, I always love your work. Your writing describes the feel of the humid air so well, I can feel it.

  This one took some mucking about with frame. The original has some sky, and a tree-lined ridge in the background. A thermal pool in the foreground. Pretty, but, ultimately distracting. It’s all about the rising vapour, and the people shrouded in it. So, cropped to a third of its original dimensions.
  
  <smile> And thanks, too, for your words about my words. One of those times, now that I think on it, when poetry is absolutely the best way to describe something. A few brush strokes, and let the reader fill in the rest. Just about everyone has experienced that kind of humidity. All the words need do is remind them.
  
  And yes, absolutely my favourite. 😀

wow, this reminds me of the time I stood in an volcano’s caldera. Not something a I’d recommend doing by the way. I remember the steam rising all around just like this as we hot footed it out of there.
