The road takes me
Toward the golden light
Day fading into
Indigo night
The long desert drive
Doesn’t end
‘Til well after dark
So I stop before the dusk
Share with the Earth
Daylight’s final sigh
The road takes me
Toward the golden light
Day fading into
Indigo night
The long desert drive
Doesn’t end
‘Til well after dark
So I stop before the dusk
Share with the Earth
Daylight’s final sigh
Dusky desert sky
Offers not
A single star
So look ahead
To where the road
Is vanishing
A comet glows
Slow to grow
But soon enough
Comes streaking by
Whereupon
The night sky falls
So stars may
Come alive
The rippled land
In golden light
Where shadows fall
Before the night
Such lush relief
Did storms reveal
Time’s watercourse
Shapes Earth’s appeal
In the failing glow of sunset
She sidles up to precipice edge
Peers into deep shadows
Senses gravity
Emanating from the abyss
Steels herself
Resists anxiety
But resistance
Is anxiety
Breathe
Breathe
Breathe
Seeking peace
With the imminence
Of eternity
This the golden hour
In advance of sun’s eclipse
I am with you
Hand in hand
Follow every laboured breath
A life of laughter, love and kindness shared
With wordless gaze and poignant smile
A tear
A sigh
A tightened grasp
Then return to fitful rest
A slumber which will last the night
But I’ll be here when you awake
In golden hour
Your hand I’ll take
Until at last
Your sun may set
Perched
Beneath a sky
Of cobalt and lavender
While the dying sun
Throws glitter bombs
Off glass towers
But all I can see
Are three dots
Racing on the display
“Jason is typing”
This Schrödinger’s mobile
Holds two truths
Like petals pulled from a daisy
Each dot flashing in turn
He loves me
He loves me not
Both are true
Until the dots stop
To reveal the nature
Of the final petal
No matter the words you say
No matter the things you do
All paths lead to you
A golden destination
Partially concealed
In unfathomable
Possibility
Spirit cracks
Inner light
Pierces darkness
Reminds conscious
Extant spirit
The world moves
In its own time
And I in mine
A dance
A rhythm
Obstinate
Relentless
Cadence
Unique
To my mind’s
Perceiving
And should I not exist
To observe
As sun surrenders sky
To the stars
Would there be time
At all?
This amber glow
To end the day
In just repose
As glories fade
Now soon the night
Will bring its peace
This wintry light
A shortened lease
Though night be long
December chill
The fire’s song
And downy fill
Warm my soul
‘Til slumber comes
Pay dreamy toll
Returns the sun
