This place of numbing

Amber glow
Inner light
So long as I hold the one
Let the other be revealed
I remind myself
The world of distress and fear
Is also a creation of mine
The cloak only gives it power
The palace of true warmth
Is the light of my own heart
Which cannot be sundered
Though wide the sea
Destination obscured
Departure long overdue
From specious sanctuary
Where murk grows ever deeper
Even as hopeful light diminishes
Beyond the narrow passage
Start the engine
Provisioned stores and buttressed heart
Set rudder’s course through narrow passage
Bound for hopeful light beyond
And I
Upon the shore
Felt the searing gaze of shame
Breathe
I whispered to my heart
As I breathed the cool sea air
That eye is but your own
Turned upon you
By the shameful one
But for the gulls
Soaring with graceful ardour
Placid amidst the tumult
I am just a pilgrim
Saffron shows my devotion
Ain’t afraid of no hard road
Fill my heart with passion
Walk thru the fire
Fly thru the fear
See the signs along the path
Though the end remains unclear
Walk in mindful silence
See what breath can do
