Fueled by the smoke
Of distant fire
Ignited by a dying sun

The smoke here has been quite something, recently. It makes for great sunset photos… and for feeling like sunset in the middle of the afternoon!

Yep. Safe to say, smoke has dominated my photography on this trip. Some exquisite beauty in it, when the smoke does not completely obscure the scene.

I arrived back in Banff yesterday afternoon, and once again smoke obscured the valley walls. Today it’s a little better, and blue sky and clouds are visible through the haze. But…. more coming over the next couple of days, it seems: Western Canada Smoke Forecast

Where do you plan to go? What do you plan to do in the Banff area? Need any tips or advice?

Oh, thanks for the offer. I got tired of playing cat and mouse with the smoke, and though I was toying with other options, came back home.

During the drive, discovered I may have some bed bug bites, picked up either at the hostel or the cheap hotel I stayed in a few days ago… so now dealing with that thorny issue. 😦

It’s nice to hope nothing got into my stuff, but I’m not taking *any* chances with that unpleasantness. Plastic bagging everything in the car then will wash and dry with the hottest settings possible, just in case.

That’s an unfortunate souvenir of your trip! Sorry to hear that.

              Ooops. Not bed bugs. Good.

              Shingles. Not so good. :/

Oh…. my hubby had shingles a few years ago. Darn that chickenpox virus! Get the vaccine in one year after your healed up or you’re bound to get it again. And it will be more painful, round 2. Heal well.

Thanks. And you’re the second person with a partner whose had it, and suggests the vaccine to prevent recurrences.

Definitely wishing I’d made the effort to do that before. =)

So anyone reading this whose had chicken pox, but not the vaccine for shingles, get the vaccine now. You really don’t want to go through this illness.
