A grand parade, indeed. It was a Sunday, a weekend, a day on which the tourists come, from all the world, from all of India. Thousands. Perhaps tens of thousands. The Indian tourists queued all the way round the retaining wall for the chance to view (and sneak a prohibited photograph of) the lovers’ tombs inside the mausoleum. And the foreigners, charged ten times the entrance fee, given the right to waltz right in.
