In the presence
Of grace and elegance
Beloved’s paean expressed
In exquisite
Architectural glory
Brought to ground
By notes of sorrow
Though beauty undiminished
Beloved’s paean expressed
In exquisite
Architectural glory
Brought to ground
By notes of sorrow
Though beauty undiminished
The beauty of an amber sky
Belies a failure
Of political will
And the premature deaths
Of millons
In others
I see
Another reflection
Of me
Sometimes
I see
Neither mirror reflects
Real me
If I shut my eyes
I see
The me I am without need
To be
I sit by them
Gazing on the beauty
Of a dream
I Quiet my mind
Dismantling the ramparts
And enter the dream
And through it all
A grand parade
Of faces, of beings
The beauty hardly noticed
Then turn around
To discover
Yet another wonder
Leaves me to wonder
How many others
Reflect upon this other
All the lines
Are precise
And pristine
As to seem
An architect’s model
Atop his desk
Then I notice
The tiny figures
Taking photos and selfies
