An Anonymous Celebrity

On a cycling tour of China
Across that vast country
I took a sidelong glance
At becoming a celebrity

In every little town
On every major street
No matter where I went
All eyes fell on me

And if I came to rest
The people crowded ’round
In a space closerthanthis
To meet me, face to face

I’ve no desire for fame
And don’t want celebrity
And on that trip I realized
I’m comfy in anonymity

April is National Poetry Month and I am participating in the National Poetry Writing Month challenge (NaPoWriMo) — 30 poems in 30 days. Though, I’ll no doubt write more than 30. 😉 All the poetry I write this month can be found here.

The folks at napowrimo.net organise a prompt every day for the month and today’s is to write a poetic fan letter to a celebrity. Well, I couldn’t really come up with a photograph to inspire such a fan letter, so instead I wrote about my experience as a celebrity instead. Seemed a fair-enough interpretation of the prompt. 😉
