I can only see so deeply into this world
It’s as if a layer of sand
Obscures what lies beneath
It’s as if a layer of sand
Obscures what lies beneath
I reach down, deep
Pull back the sand
To reveal beauty
Unimaginable
Or, sometimes
A darkness
Unfathomable
I accept both
And keep digging
For there is always more beauty
And, sometimes, a light
Cast upon the darkness
Bluffs above sand dunes
