Takes away my breath
With feats of scale
And magnificence
Sometimes, even we small creatures
We engineers and builders
With concrete and steel
Overcome mighty nature
We make the world
A little smaller
And ourselves
A little grander
In the same way nature
Makes me feel both miniscule and infinite
So too does the scale and magnficence
Of human accomplishment
Take my breath away
And breathe life into me

There aren’t many cities in the world which I am “happy” to be in. San Francisco, Boston and Vancouver. That’s about it. Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Kuala Lumpur… so many more I’ve been in, and all so remarkable in so many ways. But it is only these three which I feel ‘right’ in, would be happy to live in.
I’m fortunate to live in Vancouver.
