I want to be washed pure
The way a rocky shoreline
Chases all the blue from the ocean
Leaving a roiling, effervescent whiteness
The way a rocky shoreline
Chases all the blue from the ocean
Leaving a roiling, effervescent whiteness
I know this purity is ephemeral
That the bubbles break
That the wave loses its energy
Just the way beauty is owed so little time
But while beauty fades and is lost
There is always another wave
Ready to crash the shore
And purify the ocean again
And so, I am renewed
Again and again
So long as I am willing
To dash myself against the rocks
