If there is a heaven
But I try to live every day
As if it were a tread
On the staircase
Which would take me there
But I try to live every day
As if it were a tread
On the staircase
Which would take me there
All I need
Is to open my eyes
Remembering
That by “eyes”
I mean heart
And then we rested
Ate and slept a little
Then rose
Rose up in the dark
And then we climbed
And climbed some more
Torches in our hands
Footfalls stiff
On granite cold
No strokes go wrong
She’s always right
And so I learn
What beauty is
Old Man Rock
He’s steady-on
I sit upon him
Wondering
At all that is
And ever was
And what it means
And what becomes
In time
With practice
They become
The light
From the humblest beginnings
A miracle still
Such simple creatures
Would become the miracle, me
