The snow survived
The summer heat
Since long before
Both you and I
The glaciers die
The cold retreats
To summer’s entreat
They’re gone before
Both you and I
The glaciers die
The cold retreats
To summer’s entreat
They’re gone before
Both you and I
The waft of
Lazy water
In the air
A worm
A hook
A bobber
A length of string
And a stick
Contented child
All summer long
Soothed
By gentle light
And subtle colour
Fall’s transition
Life retired
The air goes cold
Wafts of change
Await the spring
To be renewed
I the child
Dig down into the beach
Find the water
Swirl sand into slurry
Lift it out
Dripping from fingertips
But way up high
Where mountains pierce the sky
Winter lingers still
Like when we’re in Kakadu
And it’s October
Which is fall
Except it’s early spring
Yeah, spring in Australia
But even if
You’re nowhere near
The sky is filled
With smoke
