To stand out
From the cacophony
Of life around her
But she knew
Who she was
And what she could do
And if others
Couldn’t see her
That was their problem
One score and five thousand years ago
Human eyes came to see
Human hands learned to make
All our grandiose change
No match for nature’s hand
As comfortable as I am
With the window
And its pretty scene
Offering distraction
As respite
It occurs to me
Pass through the window
I bask
In expansion
Become vivid
In my finite
Infinity
It’s an intense study of subject I don’t feel comfortable exploring with people. I tell myself, “I’m getting too much in someone’s face,” but I know it’s just as much putting them in my face. The subject has eyes, and a mind, and both are looking right back at me. Too intimate!
Come aboard
Set sail
Horizons calling
To journey beyond
I build castles on the beach
Realizing my dreams
Adventures unfolding
One bucket of sand at a time
While the boats
Tug gently at the lanyards
I’ve tied firmly to the shore
Rock and bough
Resilient
Adaptive
