Darkness is just a place
A state of mind
In which I have closed my eyes
To the beautiful perfection
Of existence

All I need
Is to open them
To see truly
And the light floods in

Line and Texture, Colour and Form

I love the way
Line and texture
Colour and form
Collaborate

I love to follow the arc
Luxuriate in the sensation
Experience the emotion of tone
Map out the journey of my eye
Through the continents of shapes

Beauty

Sometimes
I bring up this image
Just so the line of Buddhas
Can remind me of compassion
And the vibrant colours
Embolden my will for passion

The stops along the road
They come and go
And sometimes come again

Though when they do
They’re not the same

But when they’re gone
They’re lost forever

The wind blows hard
Straight up the sound
Where whitecaps roll
Against the tide

The scene reminds
Of days gone by
The stormy times
The years I lost

Blown well off course
Blown all to hell
But I rowed back
Against the swell

I’m too blue for you
I said
All dusky hues
And failing light

“Don’t worry, love”
Was her reply
“I’ll stay with you
This long dark night

“When comes the morn’
You’ll see sun rise
As you look
Into my eyes

Resistance is necessary
Violence is not

I will be the willow
And not the hammer
I will be the water
And not the rock

Where there is hate
I will love
Where there is greed
I will give

Unwelcome

Waiting
Around the
Corner

Love beckons
Like a cool dip
In a calm lake
On a hot summer day

Love puts the ground under my feet
The skip in my step
The stars in my sky
The hope in my heart

In darkness
I find the light easily
I just open my eyes
And listen

It is the grey world of the mundane
Which confounds my seeking
Where everything which casts a shadow
Seems lighter than the darkness
