“Tide out” means way out. I just checked the tide chart for Mutton Cove, January 28, 2024, and today’s morning low tide was at 1.9m, while the afternoon high was 13.1m for a tide differential of 11.2 meters from low to high. That’s 36.7 feet for those of you who don’t do metric.

Burntcoat Head, just a half hour east up the bay, was also at about an 11.2 meter differential differential today. That’s  well shy of the global record it set for tide differentials at 16.337 meters… about 53.6 feet!
