Any perch will do
Once under an overturned rowboat
On chill Swedish tundra
Fending off the mosquitoes
For just one more word
Before midnight’s nightfall
And a welcome sleep
But what this writer loves
Is a table, a chair and a view
Overlooking the sea, perhaps
Or a river, and its teeming scene
And rustic cabin decks
Or one by the window
On planes, buses or trains
No need for comforts
Though writing’s more pleasant
Just time, and solitude
Even amid the hectic world’s presence
A place where words come
From sources unknown
Leading me on journeys
Aside from the one which I’m on

Since I post at least one photo and story a day already, I’ll up the ante… last Wednesday, I started what will probably work out to be a five day road and ferry trip. So, on each day I’ll post a photograph taken that day, along with a story. (Which should be interesting as I’m still working out the kinks of my photographic and writing workflow on this tablet I’m travelling with.)
OK. Today I cheated a little bit. I shot the featured photo on Thursday, while I was at the Reef Point Oceanfront B&B writing An artistic encounter with Nature. (But, come on, as a writer’s desk it’s pretty freakin’ ideal. Doncha think?) However, I did shoot the photo of the writing desk Wendy’s letting me use at her home in Nanaimo ealier this morning. And it, rather than Reef Point, was the inspiration for this post. As writing desks go, it’s pretty awesome too. And, I wrote this while sitting there. 🙂
