Hummingbird

Humming Bird
Like hummingbirds
Carrying thimblefuls of water
To extinguish a bonfire

And yet, they do.

Lytton
British Columbia, Canada
June 12, 2015
On June 11, small fires broke out in the tinder dry forests near Lytton, British Columbia. By the 12th, high winds had fanned these to cover 1,500 hectares of forest.

This little hummingbird was descending to fill her thimble with water from the Thompson River, just below the bottom of the frame.

Which makes this a response to this week’s One Word Photo Challenge: Wet.
