In the chaos
Amidst the storms
I listen
For the words
Arising from
The love within
In them find
A path beyond
Suff’rings past
Carried in the present
In the chaos
Amidst the storms
I listen
For the words
Arising from
The love within
In them find
A path beyond
Suff’rings past
Carried in the present
A figure out of time
A being out of context
Trying to understand
Reasons from another reason
All I know
In the end
Are these columns
Carved from red stone
Their perfect geometry
Constructed in an imperfect world
Just as the world
Ever is
Just as I
Ever am
And I
Delight in the roar
Of rushing water
Coursing over stone
For a moment
At least
As content
To view the scene
As to be in it
Lost in the detail
Context and meaning
Evasive and fractured
I swirl in a sea of the minute
Fruitlessly distracted
Diverted from the present
By endless possibilities
So must I be alert
To the scale of perception
Find the balance between
A piece and the whole
A detail and its meaning
An event and its context
On a grey day
I learn gratitude
For lessons of darkness
Which made of me a man
Who finds light
In the littlest things
I love the places
Which carry the past
Into the present
Better still, the places where
Past and present co-exist
Without need for justification
Except
Perhaps
Sunrise
Time is always active
Always present
Always changing
Only consciousness
Forgets
Or represses
Time is always moving
Cultures move on
People move on
Pretense
Distraction
Aggrandisement
Avarice
I find my presence
In the present
And in that presence
Is love
Reflections form a perfect circle
Bringing the past into the present
And the present into the past
I create a history I prefer
Reforming memories I prefer
To remember
