Thief
Monkey on a roof

Keep your
Bananas
Close

The wind breaks the water
Like the water breaks the rock
Jagged and punishing

While I ride the storm
Sleek and smooth

A dulcet caress

The road
From where I love
To where I love
Passes through
A world I love

I fell in love
With an enigma
It was easy to love her
So long as she remained one

The dead don’t speak
Or so it’s said
But I have heard the whispers
From beyond the grave

White block

Black rock
Ensconced

Wind whistles
White capped crests

Sea slashed shore
Lacerated stone

Red cap warns

Two fishers
Under sunset sky
One plies the ocean deeps
One waits
Patiently
For the flicker of a fin
A little too close
To the surface

Some small beacon
On the shore
It calls to me
It guides me home

Cuts through the gloom
Lights up the night
Love’s the call
Which sets me right

In the cold grey forever
Beyond the thrashing shore
Some small sliver admits
A hopeful warmth
Igniting the sky
With possibility

With one last lingering look
I turn
And leave
The past behind
