Earth alone
Is home to billions of such convergences
Leading to this gesture of humility:
How can I know this convergence of mine
Is the best of billions
Or even any good at all
All I know
Of the billions of others
Is at best learned conjecture
Even with the most intimate knowledge
Thus am I both creator and interpreter
A God
In which I had no
Faith
Prayers and rites
In which I found no
Substance
Riding the
Pendulum’s
Swing
Content there
With logic and
Fact
I explored the bounds
Of science and
Philosophy
Discovering
A realm well beyond
Knowledge
Fleeting moments
in the picture of India
forming in my mind
Instants
out of the corner of my eye
stopped in time
Unfocused
Blurred
Impressions
So I listen
I can close my eyes
On any day
And just listen
But I prefer the fog
It is easier
To imagine in darkness
To create a world of light
In my mind
And so I forfeit
The beauty
And insight
I will never know
