Sometimes I wonder
At the need to travel
To other planets
At the need to travel
To other planets
This one is so alien
And unexplored
This one is so alien
And unexplored
Still, there remain aspects unseen
Valleys undiscovered
Some never to be revealed
A time when I become something else
A place where I become someone else
So too does Nature
Carve and weather
Heave and crumble
Building castles
Made of stone
There was a little breeze, a few roofed camping platforms, so we parked ourselves beneath one while the ’79 Holden Gemini baked out in the sun.
Some get the blues
They can’t condone
The forest stripped
To barest bone
Like today, in this dry desert heat
With only the apples from yesterday
A can of baked beans, for a campfire dinner
And tomorrow morning’s apple-cinnamon oatmeal
