Every sunset
Leads to night
Every night
Leads to sunrise
Ever the flow
Of darkness and light
Every sunset
Leads to night
Every night
Leads to sunrise
Ever the flow
Of darkness and light
She flowed
Into the sea of humanity
With the ferocity
Of a flash flood
Creating whorls and eddies
And a floe of debris
Which endured long after
Humanity finally swallowed her whole
On a cool, calm morning
Overcast, serene
The river and the people
Flow out to the shore
There to be lost
In their own way
To the surf and the sea
This flow of life
This stream of possibility
This realm of plausible hope
Where I have seen
The interplay of darkness and light
And from it learned truly
That neither is possible
Without the other
Each renders texture upon the other
While the transitions between
Reveal the greatest insights
Some will argue for the flow
Some will argue for the current
I remind myself
Step back to appreciate the whole
Evaluate the emergent patterns
Given an opportunity to observe
Beyond the confines of existing paradigms
Seek the possibility of a new way
Oxbows and diversions
Rapids and reservoirs
Confined by circumstances
Wide and shallow
Narrow and deep
Always flowing toward the light
Golden warmth which fills my heart
Reflecting on the amber stream
Step back
Allow details
To live and flow
Breathes the rhythm
Breathes the rhyme
In the subtler play
Of space and time
While I
Stand by
Upon the banks
Watch my life
Drift idly by
But why?
Ask I
Just join the flow
The river says
So I
Close eyes
Like the water
Enter life
Become the flow
Then I
Realize
Like the river
Being flows
I the water
Gather all
The river knows
‘Til I
Reside
In moment’s rhyme
The end of time
Then what remains
But moments lost
In timeless frame
I let them go
And count no more
Just live them all
In endless flow
So none pass by
For none remorse
Nor row against
The river’s course
The ripples
And the rapids play
The challenges
Of every day
