Violence is not
I will be the willow
And not the hammer
I will be the water
And not the rock
Where there is hate
I will love
Where there is greed
I will give
I will be the willow
And not the hammer
I will be the water
And not the rock
Where there is hate
I will love
Where there is greed
I will give
The will to live
Or the will to not die
Courage or fear
(I’m unsure which)
Drives them to the beach
Lungs filling with salt water
Muscles spent
Energy exhausted
We approached the ziggurat
Towing over thirty feet of living space
Exiting
The Valley of the Gods
Switchbacks, gravel and steep grades
More than a thousand feet straight up
I wondered
At the wisdom of this drive
Then the thought
Each adventure ever had
Begins with
Just a little bit of faith
Sure, when opportunity knocked
I answered the door
But opportunity doesn’t always knock
Sometimes, I just leave the comfort of my own home
