I marvel
For a moment
At the saris
Hanging in the shops
A spectacle of
Colour
Texture
Pattern
Each sari unique
Tightly packed
In the confines
Of tiny shops
Not at all unlike
The thrumming humanity
In the narrow streets
Of Chandni Chowk
I marvel
For a moment
At the saris
Hanging in the shops
A spectacle of
Colour
Texture
Pattern
Each sari unique
Tightly packed
In the confines
Of tiny shops
Not at all unlike
The thrumming humanity
In the narrow streets
Of Chandni Chowk
Peace besets me
In this dwindling hour of daylight
Content with the cool darkness to come
Eyes closed
In your arms
A burst of colour
Beyond any sunset
A moment here
A moment there
Adjusting frame
Awaiting light
Or add a child
Just running through
What once was full
Seems emptiness
Which strikes me now
So much like life
I love to follow the arc
Luxuriate in the sensation
Experience the emotion of tone
Map out the journey of my eye
Through the continents of shapes
Beauty
Places where
I always find
The colour
I’ve been missing
Give me canary
Violet, indigo, azure
Crimson, cardinal, coral
