A burst of colour
Breathes life
Into a space
Of regimental order

Life
And Love
Bring colour
To the grimmest day

Burned old crag
Half buried in the soot grey sand
Pitted by heavy rain
Issued from distressing sky

Black rocks
Tossed up on the shoreline
Decay in the surf

Still there is colour here
Kelly grass and golden straw

Life defies the gloom

I linger in deepening darkness
Counting out time
In fives by five

Collecting virtual waves
Of indigo and azure
Lavender and cobalt

Refracted and reflected
By atmosphere and cloud
And a near-flat sea

Magic time and light
Conjures from the darkness
Invokes unlikely hues

With the flourish of a shutter
Reveals to all the world
And me

Sometimes I like to imagine
A world just like my own
But with some small, unsubtle change

Lavender sun
Cobalt clouds
Canary sky

I love
That I get to bring
Such visions to life

I fell in love
With the vivid colour

So I settled in
To setup the shot

When a little girl
Ran through it

So I fell in love
With her too

Vermilion
Cerulean
Verdant

I begin with the heavy grit, which takes long, deep scratches of paint with it, gouging down through the layers of paint.

Of life

The vivid ones
Of course
Neons and electrics
Brash and confrontational

The crazy-ass kind
I never knew existed
Never thought could exist

Religion fascinates me
The passion and devotion
Of its practitioners
Equaled in vibrancy
By the colour palette
Of its expression
