A burst of colour
Breathes life
Into a space
Of regimental order

A burst of colour
Breathes life
Into a space
Of regimental order
Life
And Love
Bring colour
To the grimmest day
Burned old crag
Half buried in the soot grey sand
Pitted by heavy rain
Issued from distressing sky
Black rocks
Tossed up on the shoreline
Decay in the surf
Still there is colour here
Kelly grass and golden straw
Life defies the gloom
Collecting virtual waves
Of indigo and azure
Lavender and cobalt
Refracted and reflected
By atmosphere and cloud
And a near-flat sea
Magic time and light
Conjures from the darkness
Invokes unlikely hues
With the flourish of a shutter
Reveals to all the world
And me
Lavender sun
Cobalt clouds
Canary sky
I love
That I get to bring
Such visions to life
So I settled in
To setup the shot
When a little girl
Ran through it
So I fell in love
With her too
Poet’s words
For simple colours
Writ large
On an epic landscape
The vivid ones
Of course
Neons and electrics
Brash and confrontational
The crazy-ass kind
I never knew existed
Never thought could exist
