Time and again
Physical
Geographical
Emotional
Intellectual
Personal
Romantic
And every time
Find something new
Some original way to see
Some valuable insight
Physical
Geographical
Emotional
Intellectual
Personal
Romantic
And every time
Find something new
Some original way to see
Some valuable insight
But on closer inspection
I realized
It was the surface
Of a turquoise planet
Where a river once ran
Along a cerulean canyon
Carved through southern aqua badlands
Ride them
Duck them
Vault them
Or I can stand firm
And let the ocean wash over me
Feel its power
Enjoy the surge of energy
As it flows all around me
Turned to it
Faced head on
Arms out wide
As if wings
Unfettered by Earth
Not the horizon
Where there is only
More water
And more land
Still, I always wonder
What’s on the other side?
What is the next valley like?
I would never fail
For fear of trying
I would fail
For reaching further
Than I could grasp
Sometimes
It’s difficult to tell
Which is which
Until I try to open them
Wouldn’t it be nice
If the paths we could take in life
Were marked like ski runs
