burdened ~ NaPoWriMo Day 18

Burdens, Bicycle Rickshaw Driver, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, India

The burden
For those
Who carry
No burden

Irony
In a sea
Of burdens

I drift with the flood
Of beauty in the human spirit

Even in weighty moments of need

Unburdened

Day 18 … the fascinating miasma of humanity and commerce that is Chandni Chowk markets in New Delhi.

I love immersing myself in crowds, the energy of it, the variety, the way a mass of humanity has its own character, its own personality.

Even for me, though, spending most of two days wandering and photographing the markets, I needed an afternoon and evening of solitude in my hotel room, and a sunrise the next morning on the hotel’s roof enjoying breakfast with the monkeys and pigeons.

What is NaPoWriMo? National Poetry Writing Month.  AKA GloPoWriMo for Global Poetry Writing Month because, you know, it’s a worldwide event. During the month of April, poets challenge themselves to write at least one poem a day, every day, for the entire month. So, 30 poems in 30 days.

If you’d like to join in, or just want to learn more about this annual poetry writing event, the more-or-less official website is NaPoWriMo.net.

I am also one of the admins for a small, private FB group, NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo 2025 if you want to follow other poets on their journey. Just click “Join”.
