In the hard times
When I am blind with darkness
Or caught up in the dim light of ugliness
I try to remind myself
This too is the world

Do you want to know peace?
Be peace
Do you want to have peace?
Give peace

What is peace?
Awakening

Thoughts rattled around
In my own mind
Seeking a truth
My eyes could not see

Clouded lenses
Light obscured
I close them

The light may seem dim
And inaccessible
But there is always a path
To take me there

Some people see the light
And embrace it
The light becomes
A part of them

In time
With practice
They become
The light

Light illuminates the world for me
But darkness gives it shape
While shadow gives it depth

My spirit-guide once told me
Whenever you’re in darkness
When life becomes too cluttered
And your path seems all confusion

Just find the light
And follow it
You’ll find yourself
And be renewed

In this tangled web of existence
I am distracted by beautiful colours
Become lost on myriad paths
Interwoven and crooked

At the core of it all
A light burns so brightly
At the corner of my eye
It breaks through the clutter

Sometimes
The light is so bright
It blinds me

And then
I am able to
Truly see

When I see the light
Right there, before me
I try to remember

I may have to step
Through many doorways
To find its source
