Early Spring
A flourish of green
An explosion of new growth
Transiting seasons
Early ~ Pic and a Word Challenge #357
Spring tests winter’s depths
Capricious audacity
Risks mortality
Beneath A Sullen Sky
The sky like the snow
Sullen and sullied
The latter a victim
Of spring thaw
The collected detritus
Of winter storms
Revealed beneath
Retreating drifts
While the clouds
Speak with the voice
Of ill wind and
Malcontent climate
But the lake
Ahhhh
The lake sparkles blue
And even the worrying breeze
Does little but kindle its glimmer
A beautiful scene
After the ranger’s warning
There would be naught
But the clouds to see
Blues Transformed
When browns and ice
Of winter’s deathly sleep
Recede
Life renews
Thus even deepest blues
Transform
Become such vibrant hues
Reborn
As hope to those awakening
Cattails and Colour
Moved by the breeze
Summer songs
Giving way
To crows and jays
While summer’s creatures
Burrow deep
Or fly away
Soothed
By gentle light
And subtle colour
Fall’s transition
Life retired
The air goes cold
Wafts of change
Await the spring
To be renewed
Kakadu in the summer, no — it’s fall — no, actually, spring
We get confused about seasons
Like when we’re in Kakadu
And it’s October
Which is fall
Except it’s early spring
Yeah, spring in Australia
Winter Rust
The winter’s rust
Time for new growth
On naked branches
Spring is come
