The things we keep…

There are places of history
We maintain
Beyond their usefulness
Because we want to hold onto the past

There are places of the past
We let go
To lie fallow and go to ground
Because we no longer need them

I love discovering
Small moments
In the presence
Of grandeur

It reminds me
That I am a small being
Existing within
Something greater than myself

On a large canvas
Even the brush strokes
Can be beautiful
Laden with insight

In the desert
Where only death
And the earth
Linger long

In the desert
I strip myself
Bare of conceit
Bare of ego

Four lions watch
Over the harbour
One toward the land
Three toward the sea

Time to brush away
The winter’s rust

Time for new growth
On naked branches

Spring is come

I count the days, the hours
I count the weeks, the months
Until I can be me
Just me, again

We create spaces
Walk away from them
Return, re-visit, renovate

We take what was
And make of it
Something else
Whether for utility
Or a statement

“Not all stormtroopers are bad,” she said, coquettishly, while her legs circled, sort of like the trick of a lioness’ tail just before she pounces.

“I hope at least one of them is,” I dead-panned.

She giggled, “Only in a good way!”

It is just a sink. A pair of them, actually. Hard used by the painters and construction for I don’t know how many feature films and TV shows.
