With line and square
I fix the world
In sight and mind
The world I build
Becomes this kind
While Nature’s skilled
Geometry
Is rarely square
Organically
Math more complex
So beautifully
While Nature’s skilled
Geometry
Is rarely square
Organically
Math more complex
So beautifully
Quick glances to the valley below
Hoping for enough light
To capture the clouds in the valley
To find detail in the trees
And the valley mist
Finally, set up
And capturing frames
When I begin to notice
As one light fails
Another rises
Gone from memory
As if
They’d never
Happened
For in the darkness
Beauty thrives
Captured here by glassy eyes
A net to capture
Brittle broken crystals
Falling gently
Alighting on smallest twig
A coat of soft white
On gnarled white bark
The light
Flat as the calm sea
And equally tranquil
A scene
Rendered entirely in charcoal and smudge
But for a band of cottony hanging fog
I seek the frame
In which destruction’s beauty
Can be seen
