Even under leaden sky
There is some magic yet
When lone gull wings
On rippling breeze
Grace in its poise
Careless of thought
Satisfied in arc
And swoop of flight
Which lifts me too
From baleful earth
Between the greys
Of clouds and sea
Even under leaden sky
There is some magic yet
When lone gull wings
On rippling breeze
Grace in its poise
Careless of thought
Satisfied in arc
And swoop of flight
Which lifts me too
From baleful earth
Between the greys
Of clouds and sea
Insistent weather brings
To harry mountains
Obscure the scene
I travelled far
Intent to see
But…
Soon enough
Beguile me
They dance and play
Revealing games
A silken veil
May hide the charms
But, no, no … please!
Don’t take it off
But here is a rainforest
In this brooding monochrome
The nature of its beauty lies
And come to revel in it
Have I and many others
Clouds
And mountains
Mingle
In a waning light
The camera records
As a monochrome
When rock flowed as liquid
And the only solid lands
Were granite rafts
Floating on a molten orb
I watched it pucker and peel
In successive seasons
Of wet, then cold, then wet again, then heat
Since decades past
