The universal joy
Of a gentle wind
A small kite
And a length of string
In a child’s hand
Both the child’s
And my own
The universal joy
Of a gentle wind
A small kite
And a length of string
In a child’s hand
Both the child’s
And my own
Suffocating smoke
Smothers glimmer and glee
Even the sun subdued
To wan gloom
Long before it sets
Still
I know colour lingers beneath
Recall its effervescence
Manifest the latent joy
Until that rises above the horizon
Of my heartÂ
I remind myself
On the dreary days
The days that drain my heart
Of all but grey
Seek the colours
Let them saturate my being
Rekindle the joy in my heart
Canary and Crimson
Betwixt and between
Grey and Green
Verdance offsets the gloom
Vivid speaks to joy
Nestled on a rocky shore
Home and hearth
Friends and family
Small lives lived large
In nature’s grandeur
On the edge of infinite
This serpentine life
I dip into
And out of
Joy
Into and out of
Despair
Into and out of
Love
Into and out of
Grief
Knowing there will always be
Joy and despair
Love and grief
Accepting that each will come
As it will
And too shall pass
As it will
Learning to flow through each
With gratitude
And compassion
As I move through life
All the while
Exploring the landscape
Of possibility
Celebrate the joy
Shared with friends
On an adventure
Making a meal
Out of life
Stillness
Is a peace
I’ve sought
And known
But I’ve known
No peace greater
Than the joy of
Flight
In motion
There is
Stillness
Which gets me
To wondering
How is it thought so awful
To get the blues
For all I have
For all that’s yet to come
For all the possibility
Which I can not yet see
And most of all
For the love I give
And am given freely
The love pervading all
On this and every day
The grace we share through love
