Stars along the shore
Flickering
And I
A constellation
A God
Wheeling through space
And time
Across the eternal
Infinite
Contemplate
Infinity
The great beyond
The littlest things
Quazar
Quanta
All that is
Material
Close my eyes
Another look
A look within
A look without
Though, could I see
The immensity of time
With the eyes of this still young Earth
Then peaceful moment lost
Turmoil and cataclysm of tumbling land
And in those eyes, what am I?
But a mote of dust
Lost to infinity
A shawl
A dress
A woman
Old?
Yes
An old woman
Blending into the landscape
Now gone
Faster than you’ve read this
And soon enough
Forgotten
A solid from liquid
Carved and shattered
Cracks refilled by molten rock
Uplifted and fractured
Sundered and separated
Tumbled and rolled
Now here
Settled gently
On the shore
Of a still lake
On a quiet dawn
To marvel at the fleeting existence
Of the things that live
Even the tree
In another time
When the pier was planked
And we sailors came
In another time
Oh so long ago
In a world now lost
I feel it
Creeping up
From behind
Feel it
Entering me
Affecting me
But in the mirror
The effects of time
Are too subtle
Too slow
Feeling
very small
and finite
