Laughter

Nothing lightens the burden
Like a hearty guffaw
Like deep laughter
Rising up from the depths
Clearing me of the darkness
Lifting up the weight

In the hard times
When I am blind with darkness
Or caught up in the dim light of ugliness
I try to remind myself
This too is the world

Darkness emergent
Light brings shape
From the night
Form
Meanings

Many, many times have I
Eschewed the paths in darkness
To take instead a path in light
My wisdom interceding

Until one day thought I
Perhaps the dark is just unknown
In need of light
And wanting an explorer

Thoughts rattled around
In my own mind
Seeking a truth
My eyes could not see

Clouded lenses
Light obscured
I close them

I cannot, always
See all I want to see
Know all I want to know

But I am learning
To see beauty
In all that I can see

I try to imagine us
Each and every one
A point light of spirit
In our bodies manifest

Most drawn to center
Where all of us are one
But many lost in darkness
To drift beyond the crest

Light illuminates the world for me
But darkness gives it shape
While shadow gives it depth

Sometimes the path I must follow seems
All lit up
Just for me
So that even in the darkness
I can follow The Way

My spirit-guide once told me
Whenever you’re in darkness
When life becomes too cluttered
And your path seems all confusion

Just find the light
And follow it
You’ll find yourself
And be renewed
