A place called
Sea to Sky
Explore a world
Few eyes will see
Hidden
Underneath
A land of
10,000 photographs
It took me many years
To discover on my own
The magic in darkness
There was I
Enthralled in such luminous presence
And all I wanted
Was to worship her
A solid from liquid
Carved and shattered
Cracks refilled by molten rock
Uplifted and fractured
Sundered and separated
Tumbled and rolled
Now here
Settled gently
On the shore
Of a still lake
On a quiet dawn
To marvel at the fleeting existence
Of the things that live
Even the tree
For what mindless thing
Of improbability
And random chance
Flutters and floats
Against ocean currents
Trailing feathery death
From gelatinous glass
Such splendid beauty and malice
In this ghost of the sea
But on closer inspection
I realized
It was the surface
Of a turquoise planet
Where a river once ran
Along a cerulean canyon
Carved through southern aqua badlands
With light and mass
We shape the world
For beauty’s sake
I love the way
Mind renders lines
To pleasure me
I close my eyes
And dream of sky
Pretend there’s green
Hear the song
Feel the breeze
And the sun’s blue rays
In a tiny dot
Of twinkling light
A hundred billion stars reside
The moon slides by
Smiling at me
Full and proud
Chest puffed out
A tiny ball of dust and rock
