A geological child

A geological child

I think of this canyon
As old
Until I reflect
And recall

The sandstone
Began to rise
Some 200 million
Years ago

Leaving the water to carve
An infant, a toddler
The geological child
Of a mother, Earth, 4 billion years old

Rocking Time

Rocking Time

There are places on this earth
Where time is the answer
To every question

Time, and Nature
In harmony

Bon's Off Broadway

Bon’s Off Broadway

I found it in my neighbourhood
A decade and a half ago
A greasy spoon, a diner, a joint

A place to hang
To eat, oh-so cheaply
Ham & Eggs & Toast & Hash Browns
Just $2.95, all day

Wildfire Haze II

Wildfire Haze II

Layer upon layer

Smoke on smoke
Thickens, on the rise

Islands and mountains
Fading, in steps of blues and tourquoise

Like hailstones fallen to Earth

Like hailstones fallen to Earth

For hours, they gathered
Like hailstones falling to Earth

A trickle at first
Then a torrent
Then a tumult

Until the space filled
In a thunderous storm

Monolithic Sphinxes

Monolithic Sphinxes

Monolithic sphinxes
Bask in sunset rays
While I bask in the presence
Of geological time

Feeling
very small
and finite

The Road Goes Forward

The Road Forward

Sometimes I see
Somewhere ahead
A place
I’d like to be

With twists and turns
I’m never sure
Just where
The road takes me

The Moon Comes Calling

The Moon Comes Calling

Late afternoon
On a cold, crisp Colorado day
The moon comes calling
Wrapped in azure sky

I rise

A perfect day

A perfect day begins
In the pre-dawn
Anticipating the sun

I rise
Bring my didjeridu
To some beautiful place
And serenade the dawn

And so it begins
