This strife
This hurtful anger
Which raises some
By lowering many
This fear
This anguish
This mounting dread
That things will never be
As things never were
Except in the cheap dream
Sold to those
Who want more
Than they’ve
Ever
Given
This fear
This anguish
This mounting dread
That things will never be
As things never were
Except in the cheap dream
Sold to those
Who want more
Than they’ve
Ever
Given
Once she saw
The abuse
In the abuser
The anger rose
Fire in her veins
Pooled, glowing
As if lava flowed
Like liquid rage
Just below
The surface
Of her flesh
I call for it
In times of need
Or if too dark
It calls on me
It guides me true
Though rarely easy
But I know my path
When e’er I follow
My golden heart
Only under such conditions
Can the light of both ideas
Converge upon unexplored ground
Where it often illuminates
An insight better than either idea
It took me many years
To discover on my own
The magic in darkness
But on closer inspection
I realized
It was the surface
Of a turquoise planet
Where a river once ran
Along a cerulean canyon
Carved through southern aqua badlands
With light and mass
We shape the world
For beauty’s sake
I love the way
Mind renders lines
To pleasure me
While I tried to be brave
Standing on sorrow’s shore
Adding my own tears
To the deluge
