Water
Calm below
Crystalline wisps above
Amber and rouge
Blue and black
Skyline betwixt
The sky and sea
Amber and rouge
Blue and black
Skyline betwixt
The sky and sea
But I found instead
A monochromatic panoply
Of materialistic
Greed
Selfishness
Dishonour
“I hope at least one of them is,” I dead-panned.
She giggled, “Only in a good way!”
But what built the city
As much as the hands of men
Is the bay and a river
A natural crossroads
Betwixt and between
Whistler and Blackcomb
And miles of untracked snow
And they can find me
Every picture evokes a story
Evokes a feeling
Evokes a memory
Or an insight
Or a knowledge
Smoke on smoke
Thickens, on the rise
Islands and mountains
Fading, in steps of blues and tourquoise
A trickle at first
Then a torrent
Then a tumult
Until the space filled
In a thunderous storm
