Of a waning sun
Dwindle
I notice a speck
On the river
A boat
The immensity
Strikes me
Humbling
I notice a speck
On the river
A boat
The immensity
Strikes me
Humbling
I crouch down
Inch forward
Lie flat
Wiggle further
And as I near the very edge
A chalk covered hand
Comes over the top
Taking a firm grip
And while I have never seen
An Elf, Sprite or Dwarf
I know their presence
In the fantastical beauty
Of their works
Until I looked through a lens
Clicked the shutter
And took the latent image home
To explore the possibilities
All the brushes
Nature requires
To paint with stardust
On the canvas of existence
When rock flowed as liquid
And the only solid lands
Were granite rafts
Floating on a molten orb
Artist and creator
Of worlds fantastic
And unimagined
By lesser gifts, as mine
Crisp and cold
The night air
Sounds, sharp and clear
Amplifying presence
