Roadtrip

An endless sea to my left
Mountains rising
Into the sky on my right

A yellow stripe
And smooth asphalt
Winding along
The rocky shore between

I seek the road
Which takes me higher
Up to where the magic lives

And there take in
All that is
Spread out into infinity

Even the benefit of high vantage
May not reveal the road ahead

I travel the path before me
Accepting the unknown

Nothing sustains the Now
Mile after mile
Like an open road
Through spectacular country

Are you going
The way I am going
The way I am going there?

Then let us share The Road
Together

Sometimes I think
It would be nice
If there were bold
Bright signs along the path
Warning me
What’s coming up
On the journey
That is life

Curves ahead
Construction
Crosswinds
Historical Marker
Scenic Viewpoint

Some roads always make me feel
Like I’m on a child’s
Hot Wheels track

Or have jumped back in time
Nearly a century

The best roads
The most interesting ones
Are the twisty-turny ones
With a steep incline
Or descent

Sometimes
I can see for miles and miles
But still have no clue
Where the road will take me

When the road ahead
Appears to have no options
And may end
In a box canyon

I remind myself
There are always options
