Day’s departed sun
Twinkling distant galaxies
Dotted sky
Cloud obscured
Nighttime creatures hurrying
Light beam shoreline racing
Destination seaside stars
Dotted land
Life obscured
Dotted sky
Cloud obscured
Nighttime creatures hurrying
Light beam shoreline racing
Destination seaside stars
Dotted land
Life obscured
Not by touch
Nor sight
Nor sound
Not by smell
Like a sphere of presence
A sphere of influence
Because others
Feel me, this way
And I feel them
Like I know them
One below
One above
One beyond
And I wonder
At the span
In time
In distance
In possibility
While beginning
To descend
Knowing that time
And distance
Conspire
Against
Possibility
Back to Earth
Dreaming of space
In another time
The details lost
No greys or shadows
The colours lost
No textured nuance
And it occurs to me
The same thing happens
When I shine the light too hard
On the truths I’m seeking
But every now and again
The sun shines through
For weeks, or months
So up we went.
