Through the trials of time
Through the efforts of grace and love
I love more what will change
The injustices which endured
Through the long history
Of intransigent ignorance
And self-interest
But have no place
In a conscious society
I love more what will change
The injustices which endured
Through the long history
Of intransigent ignorance
And self-interest
But have no place
In a conscious society
There are rare moments of connection
When I can “see” all that is
Know that I am some infinitesimal
Physical
Small part of it all
I stop for a moment
Lean up against the fender
In the dry, brittle air
While the engine tinks and cracks
I never tire
Of the small wonders this world offers
Freedom
Ain’t never gotten with a dollar
Or no lawful decree
Not like a box car
Give to me
Like the spreading of lichen
Across the surface
Of bare granite
Some colonies
Stronger than others
Some weaker
They interact
Intermingle
Mutate and conjoin
The Rain
The Sun
The Cold
The Heat
In the many battles of opposites
Nothing lasts forever
Except balance
In another time
When the pier was planked
And we sailors came
In another time
Oh so long ago
In a world now lost
In a city of
Greys and dust
And muted blues
A young smile
Comes to me
“Take my picture”
She says
Then stands there
Happy and poised
In vivid red
With filters
Adding colours
With thinking
Adding meanings
Until the world I see
Looks nothing like
The world which is
