As the day fails to black
Half the sky is stars
Half is clouds
Which continue to roll in
Soon enough so thick
Even a half moon couldn’t peek through
Were there a moon at all
But I’m grateful for the stars
Too the clouds
Behind which
Twinkling pinpricks in the blackness
Play hide-and-seek
With star gazers like me
In the quiet heat of the night
Perched
Beneath a sky
Of cobalt and lavender
While the dying sun
Throws glitter bombs
Off glass towers
But all I can see
Are three dots
Racing on the display
“Jason is typing”
This Schrödinger’s mobile
Holds two truths
Like petals pulled from a daisy
Each dot flashing in turn
He loves me
He loves me not
Both are true
Until the dots stop
To reveal the nature
Of the final petal
The earliest stars
Twinkle under a brazen moon
Keeping the sky
All to itself
Then soon I saw
Another star
Another then
Now several more
The mother bear
Who points the way
To guiding light
Now clears the sky
The night reveals
A sky of lights
Infinite
And always there
Beyond the clouds
Or light of day
The lights of suns
Contemplate

The great beyond
The littlest things

I watch the universe
In subtle motion
While my camera freezes time
I hear pavement’s texture

The seat enveloping my body
On the Sound
A sheen of cobalt and amber
Twilight
Cloud light

A city beyond
Awaiting, my home
